Moorish Science Temple of America

 

The Moorish Science Temple of America is a religious organization founded in 1913 A.D. on the shores of North America by our Holy Prophet and founder, Noble Drew Ali (January 8, 1886 – July 20, 1929). The Moorish Science Temple of America was established for the upliftment of fallen humanity and the moral, spiritual, and civic development of our people through the restoration of truth, self-knowledge, and divine law.

 

At the core of our teachings is the principle that our people must know who they are and from where they descended. Our duty is to instruct the Asiatics of America in the truth concerning their nationality and birthrights. We teach that terms such as Negro, Colored, Black, Ethiopian, and African American are not nationalities, but misnomers historically imposed during the time of slavery and after. 

 

Our Mission

 

The mission of the Moorish Science Temple of America is to uplift fallen humanity by teaching Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Justice. We provide instruction in Nationality, Divine Creed, moral character, and civic responsibility so that our men and women may become better citizens and contributors to the communities in which they live. Through knowledge of self, individuals are empowered to move from ignorance to understanding, and from division to harmony.

 

Nationality and Divine Creed

 

Nationality is defined as a people having a common origin, tradition, and language, capable of forming or constituting a nation. In its simplest form, nationality is one’s lawful and cultural identity as a member of a nation. Every nation of people on Earth possesses a distinct national origin, regardless of the continent on which they reside.

 

The Moorish Science Temple of America teaches that Africa is a continent, not a country, and therefore cannot serve as a nationality (African American). Likewise, designations such as Negro, Colored, and Black do not identify a people or nation. Our teachings restore the knowledge of a Free National Name and Divine Creed, enabling our people to be properly recognized among the families of nations.

 

Our Ancestral Heritage

 

According to the Holy Koran of the Moorish Science Temple of America, Moorish Americans are the descendants of the ancient Moabites, who inhabited the Northwestern and Southwestern shores of Africa. Their dominion and inhabitation extended from North-East and South-West Africa, across the great Atlantis even unto the present North, South and Central America and also Mexico and the Atlantis Islands; before the great earthquake, which caused the great Atlantic Ocean.

 

These teachings further affirm that according to all true and divine records of the human race there is no negro, black, or colored race attached to the human family, because all the inhabitants of Africa were and are of the human race, descendants of the ancient Canaanite nation from the holy land of Canaan.

 

Our Teachings

 

The Moorish Science Temple of America preserves ancient truths that have often been distorted, misrepresented, or withheld from our people. Through the teachings brought by Prophet Noble Drew Ali, we emphasize:

• Law, order, and government

• Respect for all true and divine prophets

 

We teach that through sin and disobedience, nations have historically suffered loss and subjugation, and that redemption comes only through a return to ancestral principles, divine law, and righteous living.

 

Our Purpose Today

 

The Moorish Science Temple of America exists to reconnect our people with their rightful place among the nations of the Earth. We encourage all to proclaim their nationality, live according to their Divine Creed, and contribute positively to society. By doing so, we fulfill our duty to uplift fallen humanity and establish peace, unity, and justice for all.
